The weather's steadily getting warmer and spring is in the air which means it's time to dust off the cobwebs and spruce up your kitchen.
And while you're fixing leaky taps and scrubbing up forgotten utensils, it may be worth considering taking some time to revamp your interior design.
Whether you spend hours baking brownies and preparing gourmet meals or if you just enjoy rustling up a quick snack every now and then, most of us will spend a fair amount of time cooking in the kitchen.
Therefore, it makes sense to make your interior a fresh, bright place which you will enjoy working in, and what better way to do this than with a splash of colour?
"I think that we've been through a period of home decoration where everything has been fairly neutral and we've seen increasing use of colour," says Melanie Adams, expert in Wallpaper at Wallpaper Direct. "I think splashes of strong colour in rooms are really cheerful and it makes you feel better about life."
Fresh, new wallpaper can be a great way to bring a burst of colour into your kitchen and don't be afraid to experiment with bold patterns such as stripes or delicate, interesting prints.
"In the current economic climate, I think we need things that are more cheery," Melanie adds. "We've seen lots of lovely things with birds and butterflies and lovely bright sherbet colours being used as well."
Another great way to instantly revamp your kitchen for spring is to treat yourself to new homeware such as printed tea towels or cute knitted tea cosies, which will bring a quirky, personal feel to your interior.
However, remember that colour is key, so don't be tempted to err on the side of caution by sticking to neutral shades, but be brave and opt for daring designs in greens, yellows and even pinks.
